I am a writer and editor of words. I am also an internet marketing professional. These areas are more closely related than you might think – words are the foundation of how we communicate, whether you are seeking to tell a story, capture history, promote a product, land a job, write a paper, or offer a service.
The majority of my professional work is in the areas of editing and project management. I spend much of my time managing teams of writers who provide marketing content for advertising campaigns.
Proofreading, copy editing, and fact checking/research should all be an important part of content creation and I adore working to ensure your words say what you really mean. My marketing specialties include online strategy, SEO, community management, and social media. I create content for websites and other marketing materials.
I have over sixteen years of diverse experience in the corporate and nonprofit sectors and have provided services to a variety of clients ranging from large (international corporations) to small (individuals). I’ve proofread for a music magazine, formatted resumes, written short stories based on a client’s photos, and tailored an elevator pitch for trade show networking.
I love to learn. My education includes an undergraduate degree in computer science with a minor in communications, a graduate certificate in marketing (concentration in online/social media), another graduate certificate in editing (concentration in Chicago Manual of Style), at least half a dozen other courses in writing and editing, and a random sprinkling of classes in history, psychology, forensics, and whatever else seems interesting at the time.
I was born and raised in a small town in northeast Pennsylvania before heading to Niagara University in Upstate New York. Post-graduation, I made my way to Raleigh, North Carolina, and settled in for awhile. After over 15 years there, I relocated to Alexandria, Virginia outside of Washington, D.C. in late 2015. I work with the majority of my clients remotely but am excited to be a NOVA resident.
